Sarah McChesney is a writer and improv/sketch comedy actor. Sarah was named a fellow in the flagship year of the highly selective HBOaccess diversity writing fellowship. HBO optioned and filmed the pilot presentation of her original sample LADY BOUNCER. Her scripts have also placed in the top ten of the Tracking Board’s Pilot Launch Pad Competition and the semifinals of PAGE International Screenwriting Awards.

Sarah is an alumni of the world famous Groundlings Theatre in Los Angeles where she studied and performed with brilliant improvisors such as Patrick Bristow, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Mindy Sterling and many, many others. She also trained at Upright Citizens Brigade and performed for many years with Patrick Bristow’s Improvatorium. Sarah was honored to be recruited and train as a puppeteer/improviser with The Jim Henson Company’s “PUPPET UP!”

An avid gamer, Sarah was thrilled to work as a writer and gaming consultant on GLITCH TECHS for Nickelodeon and Netflix. She also consulted for video game developer Other Ocean Interactive and wrote for Ever Scouts, a streaming app teaching emotional social learning through gaming.

Sarah writes comedy, science fiction and horror in both TV and features and is passionate about representation for people of all genders and color. She has written live action, animation and for puppets on KETCHUP WITH THE HOTDOGS; a web series from Jim Henson Studios and Nerdist Studios. Sarah has written and produced on shows for HBO, Netflix, Nickelodeon, Bravo, MTV, E!, NBC, Warner Media , Disney and more. She has also written and performed in more sketch comedy theater shows than she can count. Consequently she owns a lot of wigs.

Sarah is currently a writer and director for FIRE SPIKE, an animated children’s series from Bored Panda Studios.

Since returning to Pittsburgh to raise her family, Sarah launched McChesney Creative Workshops where she teaches improv and writing to children and adults. 

In addition to writing and performing, Sarah is an artist and animal lover. She combined these two interests by launching Epic Pet Designs and runs an Etsy shop by the same name.
